GMsR at York Cycle Show

Despite mixed weather, with steady rain most of Saturday 21st and gale force winds on Sunday 22nd of June, Sheila Hopkinson (pictured above left) and yours truly had a great time meeting and talking to loads of visitors to this annual show held on York's ancient Knavesmire Racecourse.

There was terrific interest shown in the 16th annual Great Milk (stout) Ride on 7th September later this year.It was really good to be able to talk to prospective riders, go into greater detail about the location and answer any questions they might have. This meant that the flyers we were handing to them would mean much more when read later at home. There were several who expressed interest in forming teams and taking advantage of the free weekend's camping and caravaning facilities at the Nidderdale Agricultural Society's showground where the event is now an established annual feature in the Nidderdale calendar. We talked to visitors from all over the UK and are looking forward to welcoming increased numbers to this year's event as a result.

Life was, to say the least, a bit hairy on the Sunday and visits to "the facilities" proved somewhat exiting for some people (above right); but everyone seemed to enjoy the days out and we are keeping fingers crossed.
